Your profile, meals, doses, weights, steps and symptoms are stored on your device. If you sign in with Apple or Google, a backup of this data (without meal photos) and your account email/name are stored on our server so you can restore it on another phone. You can delete your account and backup anytime in Profile → Delete account.
When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to our server and to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to produce the estimate; we do not store the photo. We keep an anonymous per-install identifier and a daily scan counter to enforce fair-use limits.
If you connect Apple Health or Health Connect, Plately reads your weight, steps and active calories and writes the weight and meal nutrition you log. Health data is used only to show your progress in the app; it is never used for advertising, never sold and never shared with third parties.
